WHAT IS A LOVE OFFERING ... also known as "donation"
For those of you who wonder what a "Love Offering" is ... ?
A love offering is a “volunteer offering” asked for by the individual or organizer of an event that is accepted at the time of a gathering. It is requested when no set dollar amount applies to an event. This is often due to the fact that the individual or organizer of the event would love to give you this event but they have spent something ...dedication, practice, precious time, money or usually all of the above.
The individual or organizer has gone out of their way to make this event happen and they are asking for the goodness of your heart to show regard for their efforts. It is usually requested by the individual or organizer so that you will show a bit of appreciating for their efforts to make an event or gathering happen. It is voluntary and if it is asked for, it is greatly appreciated when received.
When it is asked for and you don’t contribute anything you’re essentially conveying that you hold a lesser value for the individual or organization and the event itself. By not putting some cash or a gift card in the "love offering" container, even a small token that you know the individual or organization would really use and appreciate, you’re actually putting out a lack of *gratitude.
Gratitude is the elixir of happiness and a complete healing balm.
It is said ... "Love Offering Accepted, no one will be turned away for not giving". This is true, as I know it to be true for me. How many times have you attended an event asking for a love offering and really, truly had nothing to give back? Did you have gas in your car to get there, did you have lunch before the event or will you have dinner after the event?
If you have nothing to give back, that is ok.
If you have something to give please don't walk past the "love offering" container and assume that it won't be noticed , it won't matter or it won't be counted against you if you don't give. It won't be noticed, won't matter and won't be counted against you by the individual or organizer that created the event. WHEW!!! You are off the hook there! BUT it will register in your heart ... the place of LOVE ... the place that tallies what you do and don't give.
When an invitation says "Love Offering Accepted" just give.
